Tarragona is a city and a province in the south of Catalonia. Its coastline is known by the tourist brand Costa Dorada (Golden Coast). Tarragona is the second most important Roman archaeological site in Spain. The city offers many historical monuments, including churches from different periods and a well‑preserved Roman amphitheater. In 2000, Tarragona was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its archaeological and architectural landmarks. The province is also noted for its gastronomy, especially a wide variety of wine‑related activities, as well as numerous food festivals where visitors can enjoy local specialties.
