Güimar - South Tenerife Spain

Güímar is a municipality, town, and valley on the eastern side of the Spanish island of Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands, in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The municipality extends from the mountainous interior down to the Atlantic beaches and borders La Orotava, Arafo, and Fasnia. It has an estimated population of 18,589 (2013), and the TF-1 motorway runs through it. Güímar is famous for its Guanche pyramids and is also home to the Barranco de Badajoz ravine. Part of its volcanic landscape is protected as the Malpaís de Güímar Nature Reserve, whose highest point is Montaña Grande.
